NEW Monthly Cooking Classes


Join us in the Community Room kitchen for fun, hands-on cooking classes that focus on healthy, delicious recipes you can make at home. Each month brings a new theme:

  • Oct 13: Healthy Cooking 101 - Focus on lean proteins, whole grains, and veggies.
  • Nov 10:  Flavors of Fall: Pumpkin, squash, & apples - oh my!
  • Dec 8: Batch Cooking for the Holidays - Prep ahead soups, roasted veggies, & more!

WHO: Ages 16+ (Ages 8–15 may attend with a guardian)

Monthly Nutrition Series

A Complimentary Class for Y Members 

with Registered Dietician Olivia Obertello

Join us for our Monthly Nutrition Series, a comprehensive journey through a range of nutritional topics designed to empower and educate you on healthy eating habits. Each session includes enlightening discussions, cooking demonstrations, and delightful taste testing experiences.

WHO: YMCA members - adults and children age 8+
WHEN: On the 3rd Tuesday of each month, 6-7pm 

WHERE: Brooks Family YMCA Community Room

TOPIC: September 23 - Spanish Tapas: Bring Spanish flair to your table with healthy, flavorful small plates. *Rescheduled from 9/16

Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program

The program is tailored to fit your schedule, allowing you to enroll at any time. Through this four-month program, and with the support of a trained Healthy Heart Ambassador, participants will aim to:

  • Measure and record their blood pressure at home at least two times per month, gaining increased awareness of triggers that elevate blood pressure
  • Attend two personalized consultations per month with a Healthy Heart Ambassador (based on your schedule)
  • Attend monthly Nutrition Education Seminars

Participants pay a one-time fee that covers the cost of the program.

Members $35/Non- Members $55 (non-members will receive 4-day passes to the Y)

LIVESTRONG AT THE YMCA

LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, a small-group program developed and established in partnership with the LIVESTRONG® Foundation, assists those who are living with, through, or beyond cancer to strengthen their spirit, mind, and body. Recent research from the Yale Cancer Center and Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Institute confirmed that LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA participants experience improved fitness and quality of life and a significant decrease in cancer-related fatigue.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

  • 12-week program with two 90-minute sessions per week
  • Includes cardiovascular conditioning, strength training, balance and flexibility exercises
  • Evaluation includes fitness and quality of life assessments before and after participation
  • Facilitated by YMCA-certified instructors
  • No Cost - YMCA membership is included for the participant and their family or support system

Free Ivy Rehab Physical Therapy Screenings

We are excited to announce that the Y is partnering with Ivy Rehab to offer free physical therapy screenings every month!

If you’re in pain, have recently injured yourself, or just think something might be wrong, you can come and meet one-on-one with a physical therapist who will conduct a thorough assessment of your condition.

WHO: Adults age 18+ 
WHEN: the 2nd Tuesday of each month 

11am-12pm on Tuesdays
